Based on the novel 'A Grand Man' by Catherine Cookson Jacqueline is the daughter of shipyard worker Mike McNeil (John Gregson) whose job is in jeopardy because of his crippling fear of heights. Dismissed from the shipyard he seeks solace in Alcohol. Mrs Flannagan, the local gossip, seizes every opportunity to add insult to injury... But she has reckonded without Jacqueline. Only Jacqueline accepts her father unconditionally, obvious to what others have to say against him...
